AB Skanfloor

AB Skanfloor was founded by Steve Kohler. We are a pan-European company, delivering high strength & premium quality ceramic flooring systems and products to commercial industry. Our service is complete; from design to delivery, and includes all materials. The system used, Vibration Installation, is a specific and highly advanced process, which results in floors of superior strength and durability. Applications for the Vibration System are many - where durability from continuous or heavy traffic is a factor, as in supermarkets, shopping malls, factories & auto-workshops. Where acid resistance & non-slip surfaces are important, such as in breweries, production facilities or wash bays, and where bacteria resistance is also crucial, such as in pharmaceutical or food handling facilities.

There are 3 key reasons for choosing a Vibrated ceramic floor by
AB Skanfloor;

  • Strength
  • Durability
  • Function

Strength - In many commercial applications, tiles laid using conventional installation methods will simply not perform. The reason is that conventional systems are flawed with opportunities for failure.
A ceramic tile is only as strong as the substrate that supports it. The strength of a Vibrated Floor comes from a total fusion between tile and substrate. Air pockets, found under tiles in conventional systems, are weak points. Any impact made on the floor over an air pocket can break the tile, resulting in a hazardous floor surface. Water undermining damaged areas of a floor can delaminate even larger areas. Further, repairs are costly and time consuming. In areas used by the public, safety and liability is also a great concern. The
AB Skanfloor Vibration Installation method "envelopes" the tile into a thick mortar bed, and the complete system is compacted, eliminating air pockets and enhancing the tiles' strength and service life. A monolithic floor layer is created, of superior strength to all other alternatives.

Durability - When a Vibrated floor is installed, the user can expect a floor that will provide many years of service with minimum maintenance. Depending on the severity of the application, a Vibrated floor can last for up to 25 years. Compared with other flooring systems, including conventionally laid ceramic floors, which must be repaired constantly and completely replaced every 5 - 15 years, the economic advantages of a Vibrated floor become apparent. In areas of production or sales, vast amounts of money can be lost whilst waiting for floor surfaces to be repaired or replaced. An installation by AB Skanfloor will provide years of faultless service, with minimum maintenance, and reduced production downtime.

Function - A Vibrated ceramic floor by AB Skanfloor is designed and installed to meet the exact needs of the customer. There are many tiles and tile surfaces to choose from, specifically manufactured for Vibration Installation, to promote strength, acid resistance, slip resistance, and bacteria resistance. A range of colours is also available to suit your corporate image. The mortar bed, a mixture of sand, cement and fortifiers, is created to provide maximum strength for the particular floor application. In some applications, such in areas where oil contamination of the concrete prevents an adequate bond, the entire system must be separated from the underlying substrate. In areas where slight substrate movement is expected, the Vibrated system is designed to move in conjunction with the substrate. Areas of the floor surface can be designed and graded to enable easier human access, or to guide surface water-flow quickly and safely to drainage points. In areas where acid &/or bacteria resistance are a consideration, specifically manufactured bonding agents and joint fillers are used in conjunction with the Vibration System, to ensure maximum floor performance.

Guarantees - All AB Skanfloor Vibration Installations are complimented by a guarantee for quality of materials, workmanship & performance. Guarantees are offered for between 2 - 5 years, depending on the severity of the application. Tile supply is backed by the guarantee of the manufacturer, and the product should always be installed in accordance with the manufacturers' recommendations.

Maintenance Programs - AB Skanfloor offers our customers the option to extend guarantees, through an ongoing maintenance program that continues after the initial guarantee has expired. For a small fee per year, calculated on the value and size of the project, an annual inspection and required repairs will be made free of charge, at a time that suits our customer.

Timing - In Europe, the supply of tile can be realised within 3-4 weeks. In Asia Pacific, you can expect a maximum 6-8 week turnaround. Our installation teams are able to work at times that suit your facility, in order to minimise your interruption and maintain your levels of production. The quantity of floor completed per day can vary according to each project, but a minimum of 200 m2 per day for standard cementitious projects, and 120 m2 per day for acid proof tile installation, can be expected.

Contact - We welcome any enquiry that you may have, and would be pleased to discuss your project with you. Our offices in Sweden services Scandinavia & Europe, and our Australian offices cater to the Asian & Pacific region.
